I have struggled to find quality gift ideas for my mother for years. It’s not that she’s picky; I just don’t have the greatest idea what a woman in their 50′s is looking for in a gift. Every time her birthday, Mother’s Day, or Christmas would roll around, I’d sit there for days trying to come up with anything that she might like. Usually, all this anguish ended in me just purchasing her a gift certificate or a pair of earrings that she probably already owns.
This year, as I was going through the customary anguish before her birthday, I took a sip out of my own ceramic travel mug. It was then that I realized that my mom would love her own travel mug! My mom loves to drink coffee and tea. Every morning, she pours herself a hot cup of coffee and heads off to work. More than a few times, she has spilled this hot coffee on her work clothes and spend the day cursing about it.
I realized that a ceramic travel mug with lid would be the ideal gift for her to protect her from these spills in the future. I got her mug personalized to her with her name on it and some flowers to the side, and I could see she was genuinely excited by this gift. More so than any other gift I had gotten her in a long time.
I believe that any mother or grandmother would be ecstatic to receive a ceramic travel mug as a gift for any occasion. It keeps their outfits dry while on the road and saves them from worry. My mother has not had one spill in the 5 months since I gave her the mug, even though the mug itself has fallen over a few times. The lid provides protection and the mug is built to be very durable.
